Wiremill Academy: Educating people in all aspects of the Performing Arts

Wiremill Academy: Educating people in all aspects of the Performing Arts.

Co-founded by three Broadway professionals with many years of experience both onstage and in the studio, Wiremill Academy in Georgetown has a reputation for being the place for young people to take an acting class, voice lesson or summer camp.  What many don’t know is that Wiremill Academy offers more than classes, lessons and camps.

Four interns join Wiremill, learn to write and produce

This spring, four High School Seniors from Wilton and Ridgefield who have gone through the Wiremill program as middle and high schoolers, are working as interns. Instead of the usual running for a cuppa joe or emptying the garbage, they are learning how to write and put together a show. (Pictured left to right), Ben Senneff and Nikki Scamuffo from Wilton High School and Rico Froehlich and Rosie Staudt from Ridgefield High School, will all be attending different colleges next year, studying theatre.  Rick Hilsabeck, Broadway veteran and one of Wiremill Academy’s founders said, “We thought; a career in the theatre is a mosaic. Priorities change and evolve throughout your life and can include many different types of work in the arts. One of these areas is writing and putting together a show.  Ben, Nikki, Rico and Rosie are each talented, self-starters. Why not give them some experience that might be useful before they go off to college? Let’s have them help us write our Summer Camp shows.”

The camps will be taught by Wiremill Academy co-founders, Rick Hilsabeck, Sarah Pfisterer, former Phantom and Christine of Broadway’s “The Phantom of the Opera” and Mary Jo Duffy, Broadway’s “Liberty Joe”. Caitlin Witty, Wiremill alumna, will be joining Ms. Pfisterer for the Frozen/Moana camp. Wiremill Academy often hosts classes with friends and colleagues who are professionals in the industry such as Academy Award winners (LaLa Land lyrics) and Tony nominees (Dear Evan Hansen music and lyrics), Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, Cris Groenendaal, from PBS’s Sweeney Todd, and Beverly and Kirby Ward, veterans of Broadway and the BMI Writer’s Workshop to name just a few.

Wiremill Academy will have Four Camps this summer for different age groups.
