Call for Entries for Wilton Library’s annual Summer Show

Wilton Library is calling for entries for its 73rd Annual Summer Show which opens July 14

After a cold, rainy spring the weather is finally getting warmer which is a true sign that Wilton Library’s 73rd Annual Summer Show is right around the corner in July.

Adult Wilton artists are invited to join this popular art exhibition by submitting one or two works per artist in the categories of paintings, drawings, sculptures or pastels. Wilton artists are defined as people who live or work in Wilton. Submissions are being accepted for this non-juried exhibition on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Entries must be framed and wired for hanging. The exhibition will be installed the first week of July and the reception, which is open to the public, will be Friday, July 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

According to Ed MacEwen, Wilton Library’s volunteer art chairman, “This show always puts smiles on people’s faces when they recognize their next door neighbors, teachers, babysitters or other people in their Wilton lives who have been moved by a creative spirit. This two-month exhibition really showcases the talent that thrives within this community.”

The exhibition runs through Wednesday, August 23. A majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library therefore a slight commission fee will be charged to the artists for works sold. Artists will need to pick up their works on Thursday and Friday, August 24 and 25 to make room for September’s exhibition.

General information and entry forms are available on the library’s website at www.wiltonlibrary.org or by visiting the circulation desk. For more information or questions, contact Janet Crystal via email: jcrystal@wiltonlibrary.org.
