Third Saturday: FREE Community Day at The Aldrich on Saturday, August 19

Ridgefield, CT (August 2017)—The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum will host Third Saturdays on Saturday, August 19. Museum admission will be free for all visitors from 10 am to 5 pm.

Family-friendly art-making activities will take place in The Studio. Inspired by the mind-maps in Beth Campbell’s exhibition, My Potential Future Past, children can experiment with linear drawings with light-colored media on dark paper, and work with lightweight wire to create mobiles that appear like chandeliers, root systems, or a family tree. These activities will take place from 10 am to 3 pm; children ages 2 to 5 from 10 am to 12 noon and children ages 6 to 10 from 1 to 3 pm.

An Artists on Artists Exhibition Tour will take place from 3 to 4 pm led by Aldrich teaching artist Jahmane. Bring the whole family to take part in an engaging and unique exploration of the current exhibitions, hearing fascinating insights and perspectives from artists, about artists.

This will be the final opportunity to see the Museum’s current for solo exhibitions for free: Beth Campbell: My Potential Future Past, Suzanne McClelland: Just Left Feel Right, William Powhida: After the Contemporary, and Kay Rosen: H Is for House. These exhibitions close on September 4, 2017.

Third Saturdays take place the third Saturday of each month where admission is free and open to the public all day. This monthly community-oriented day is generously sponsored by Fairfield County Bank.
