Wilton Library welcomes a wonderful art institution located right up the street when the G&B Cultural Center Art Exhibition opens on Friday, October 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the library. A talented group of area artists who regularly exhibit at the center will be featured in the library’s monthly exhibition. The exhibition highlights more than 30 artists who work in a variety of media including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, mixed media, drawings, photography and sculpture with subject matter encompassing figures, portraits, still life, abstracts, botanicals, landscapes and more. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through November 9.
Ed MacEwen, art chairman for Wilton Library, noted, “I’ve wanted to bring this colony of artists into the library for some time and I’m delighted that we were able to make this exhibit happen.”
Pat Hegnauer, director of the G&B Cultural Center remarked, “We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to showcase our treasure in the former Gilbert & Bennett site with an outreach program right here at Wilton Library, which is the jewel of this community. Whether you’re at the library or the G&B Cultural Center, you can purchase an original piece of art at an affordable price, support the artists in their local community and support these two institutions – it’s a win-win situation for everyone!”
A majority of the more than 50 works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. Wilton Library hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 to 5 p.m. Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in the heart of Wilton Center.
