Friday, Dec. 1 through Thursday, Dec. 7 Winter Palace Sculpture Contest The Wilton Economic Development Commission in partnership with Wilton Library invited Wilton kids in grades K-12 to submit Winter Palace sculptures to be put on display in the Children's Library section of library from Nov. 27 through Dec. 7. During this time, guests and visitors of the library can vote for their favorite sculptures and winning sculptures will be awarded ribbons. Voting will close on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at noon. Votes will be counted and ribbons will be displayed by Thursday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. in the following grade categories: K-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12. Friday, Dec. 1 through Thursday, Dec. 28 Unhung Heroes Art Exhibition Wilton Library continues its exhibition with 20 artists who have either not exhibited at the library before or not in the recent past. The artists work in a variety of media including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, mixed media, drawings, photography and sculpture. Their works encompass an array of styles and subject matter such as figures, portraits, still life, abstracts, botanicals, landscapes and more. Friday, Dec. 1 through Wednesday, Jan. 3 Wilton Library Holiday Book Sale.  Wilton Library's Holiday Book Sale in the gallery is a seasonal delight where bargains can be found - featuring a large array of pristine books, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks. This year, the sale includes a diverse collection of classical, jazz, Latin and blues CDs.  All CDs are priced to sell, many are new shrink-wrapped items.  All merchandise is perfect for holiday gift-giving.  As items are sold, new ones appear daily. All sales support the library. Sale is continuous during regular library hours through January 3, 2018. Library closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Tuesday, Dec. 5 Random Acts of Kindness (RAKtivist) Club for Middleschoolers, 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?” ~Martin Luther King, Jr. We're looking for students in grades 6-8 who would like to join RAKtivists -- a world-wide movement which practices Random Acts of Kindness. On the first or second Tuesday of every month we'll do something nice and think of ways to spread kindness and put smiles on people’s faces. Wednesday, Dec. 6 Breaking Code – A One-Hour Entertaining Lesson in Coding, 1 – 6:30 p.m.  Wilton Library is joining Computer Science Education Week, a national movement to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).  One-hour “lessons” in coding will be given throughout the afternoon for adults and children 6 years and up at the following intervals: 1 – 2 p.m., 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., 4 – 5 p.m. and 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.  Participants can use one of our computers or bring their own devices and sit in on any of the sessions. A short introduction to the online class will be given at the start of each hour. Attendees can participate at their own speed. Saturday, Dec. 16 Tales to Tails, 11 a.m. – noon.  ROAR's (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing a therapy dog to be read to by children.  The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and look forward to reading.
