Wilton Woman Attacked by her Dog

On November 11, 2013, at approximately 11:30 am, the Wilton Police Department was notified of an attack of a resident by her pet Pit Bull in the area of Range Road.

The first arriving officer, Captain John Lynch found the victim, a 65 year old woman, attempting to protect herself and seriously injured underneath a vehicle in her driveway.  Captain Lynch determined that the dog was an immediate threat to the victim, the officer and residents who had stopped.  Captain Lynch discharged his weapon striking and killing the animal.

The victim suffered severe injuries as a result of the attack by the canine, to include the loss of one arm and partial loss of the other, as well as multiple other wounds over her body.  She was transported by Wilton EMS to Norwalk Hospital.

The Pit Bull will be tested for rabies at a State of Connecticut laboratory.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Editor's Note:  My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and her family.  I wish her peace and a quick recovery.
