WestConn Students Evacuated Due to Hoax Bomb Threat

Earlier this afternoon Western Connecticut State University received a bomb threat forcing students to be evacuated.

According to the University's Emergency Alert Notifications System there was a developing emergency situation on campus causing several buildings on the Midtown Campus to be evacuated.

The following buildings, Midtown Student Center, Newbury Hall, Haas Library, and University Hall, were evacuated and had been put on lock down. The alert mentioned that there was going to be an "increased police presence" on campus.

Around 3 p.m. Newbury Hall and University Hall had been cleared by police, students and faculty were allowed to re-enter the buildings. However the Midtown Student Center and Haas Library remained evacuated and locked down.

Shortly after, the alert system sent out a notification saying the all buildings on the Midtown Campus and Westside Campus had been cleared and were operating as normal.

The bomb threat was just a hoax. All those present on campus were safe as well as the police force. There has yet to be any indication as to who sent out the threat. For now WCSU is safe and operating as normal.
