Wilton Police: DUI, car chase and more

August 25- Accused male from Waterbury, surrendered to an arrest warrant issued for Failure to Appear in court back on 8/6/15. This case stemmed from an arrest in 2/2015 when he was accused of burglary to a motor vehicle and larceny. He was released after posting $5000 bond.

August 25- A Westport resident was pulled over by Wilton Police when he was caught traveling 45 mph in a 35 mph zone. A traffic stop was made and an odor of marijuana was detected. A small amount of marijuana, a smoking pipe, and a stem for a bong were all found during the stop. The operator was issued an infraction for the above charges and released from the scene.

August 26- A vehicle was traveling southbound on Chestnut Hill Rd. When the vehicle came to the red light it stopped about two car lengths past the line and continued once the light have turned green. Past the light the vehicle swerved to the left as to straddle the double yellow line. Wilton Police pulled over the vehicle and it was discovered that the operator was under the influence. An almost empty 1.75L bottle of vodka was found beside the underage operator. The operator was released on a PTA and scheduled to appear at court.

August 28- Wilton Police pulled over a vehicle going southbound on Route 7 after it was witnessed going 74 mph in a 35 mph zone. The operator was stopped and further investigation revealed that operator may be under the influence. The operator was unable to provide proof of insurance, as well as failed a standard field sobriety test. The operator was placed under arrest, the vehicle was towed, and the passengers of the vehicle were called a taxi at police headquarters. Once at headquarters the operator submitted a breath test showing a blood-alcohol level on 0.1131.

August 30- A vehicle was stopped on Route 7 for a having a non-visible registration plate. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver sped away almost hitting the police officer. The vehicle was pursued for twenty minutes around Wilton Roads, where the speed reached 100 mph on Route 7. The vehicle was finally stopped on Hurlbutt St when he reached an officer with spike strips. Inside the vehicle was a small amount of marijuana. The driver fled because he had no license, no registration, or insurance. There was also a juvenile passenger in the vehicle.
