Wilton's Securtiy Task Force is continuing to ensure Wilton schools safety

The Wilton Security Task Force remains focused on security issues affecting Wilton schools. Many of the Task Force initial recommendation have been implemented, including the new secure entrance at the High School, as well as "hardening" of windows in the schools. Several others are in the works including additional physical security enhancements at all schools as well as an improved emergency communications system with the schools and within the Wilton Police.

The Task Force has been meeting for tow and half years and our members bring a wide depth of experience and skills. From our schools. we have Dr. Kevin Smith, Jory Higgins, Ken Post, Roseann DeSimone and John Murphy. John Logan has a United Nations Security background. John Suchy has a law enforcement background and Selectwoman Deborah MacFadden brings the Board of Selectmen viewpoint. My Co-Chair, Terrie Schwartz's background included leadership positions in the FBI and Homeland Security, and I bring 32 years extensive police experience here in Wilton. Our entire team continues to be focused on the security needs of out Wilton schools.

We want our Town to understand that the Task Force is still at work and additional actions will be taken as we remain focused both on evaluating appropriate nad pragmatic measures that will keep our schools and our children safe in their learning environments.
