The Yale New Haven Hospital “SkyHealth” medical helicopter will be landing at Allens Meadows on Saturday, November 21st at approximately 2:00 PM as part of an orientation and training exercise for the Wilton Fire Department, CERT, Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Wilton Police Department.
It is expected that this will soon be available to transport critical patients to any of our area hospitals from remote areas of Town or when normal traffic routes to the hospitals are impassible.
Given the heightened sensitivity to homeland security, we understand that the presence of a low flying helicopter in the skies above Wilton, however, this is just a training evolution which should improve emergency medical transportation and not something residents should be alarmed about.
