Wilton Police Department has published their 2015 statistics

Department Function:

The Wilton Police Department is responsible for all law enforcement activities within the Town.  The Department is designated first responders to all emergency medical calls received by the Town’s 911 Dispatch Center, which is located in and operated by the Police Department. The Wilton Police are responsible for dispatching all Police, Fire and EMS personnel and equipment to calls requiring their response. The Department is charged with the investigation of all crimes committed within Wilton. The Detective Division investigates all types of crimes as a general investigative unit.

Statistics:

In 2015, the Wilton Police Department responded to over 14,000 calls and our Dispatch Center answered approximately 36,000 additional calls from the community. The Town of Wilton continues to enjoy a long standing low crime rate, in part because of a police presence, aggressive patrol techniques and enforcement efforts relative to traffic contacts and a consistent vigorous investigative unit, all of which are key factors in Wilton remaining a relatively safe community in which to live and work. In 2012, FBI statistics ranked Wilton the third safest town in Fairfield County in terms of violent crimes and property crimes.

Traffic still remains a substantial concern to the Department. Route 7 has been fully operational since the widening project was completed over. Traffic congestion has eased but speed has increased on Route 7. The secondary roads now have less traffic volume. The total number of motor vehicle accidents reported to the Wilton Police Department in 2015 was 747, compared with 713 in 2014. Motor vehicle accidents with reported injuries remained relatively the same for the past two years with 63 in 2015, 61 in 2014 compared with 113 in 2013.
