Wilton Group Home Employer Arrested for Stealing from Clients with Special Needs

On March 17, Willis Howell, of New Milford, was arrested on a warrant that was issued in December 2015 stemming from an investigation from when he had worked at a group home in Wilton. The group home was for people with special needs and Howell was responsible for managing their finances and well being. Howell had been working at the group home since October 2014.

Howell was stealing from the victims with special needs by submitting false receipts and invoices and withdrawing money from their checking accounts. He was also using his employer issued credit cards that were supposed to be used to take care of the residents of the group home. Instead he was using the credit cards to make purchases for his own personal use.

Howell was charged with six counts of Forgery in the 3rd Degree, three counts of Larceny in the 2nd Degree and one count of Larceny in the 4th Degree. He was released on a $1,500 cash bond and appeared at the Norwalk Superior Court this past Monday, March 28.
