Wilton Police: Vehicle on Fire, MVA, Drugs & More

On November 22, Nechtali Lara of Bridgeport was involved in a MVA off of Rt I-95. Connecticut State Police found that Lara had a Wilton arrest warrant dating back to 2011. In that case, Lara was accused of stealing checks, forging signatures, and cashing checks belonging to a Wilton resident. State Police drove Lara to Wilton PD where she was fingerprinted and photographed. He was issued a court bond of 5K.  Lara posted bond and was given a court date of 12/1/16.

On November 22 at approximately 2:00am, Wilton Police were dispatched to the area of 518 Nod Hill Road for a vehicle in the roadway. Upon arrival, police observed a vehicle to be partially on top of a stone wall. There were no occupants in the vehicle. The operator stated that he had been working long hours and fell asleep while driving. He explained that he was planning on making arrangements for the vehicle in the morning. The operator, Jerome Penn of Ridgefield was issued a Misdemeanor Summons for Reckless Driving. A court date is set for 12/5 in Norwalk. 

On November 23 at 8:45pm, units were dispatched to 198 New Canaan Road for a complaint of a MVA off the roadway and the MV on fire. Wilton Police arrived on the scene to find the drive, Hunter Stanfield of Wilton trapped inside the vehicle. Police gained entry to the MV and were able to remove Stanfield before the fire engulfed the entire vehicle. Officers supplied first aid to Stanfield on scene. He was transported to Norwalk Hospital via Wilton EMS with minor injuries. Action pending criminal investigation. 

On November 23 Devin Monroe of Norwalk was stopped for speeding on Rt. 7. During the stop, drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle. The accused was issued an infraction and was released from the scene without incident.
