Wilton Police arrest Bridgeport man for stealing checks belonging to Wilton resident

On November 22, Nechtali Lara of Bridgeport was involved in a MVA off of Rt I-95. Connecticut State Police found that Lara had a Wilton arrest warrant dating back to 2011.  In that case, Lara was accused of stealing checks, forging signatures, and cashing checks belonging to a Wilton resident.

The victim reported two unauthorized checks were cashed totaling $500.00. Upon investigating officers discovered that the two checks were deposited to the same bank account. A search warrant provided the details regarding the information of the account including the name of the account owner.

The investigation uncovered the fact that the cleaning person (Lara) had stolen the checks and deposited them into another account. A warrant was issued for Lara’s arrest. Attempts were made to arrest Lara but he could not be located.

On 11/22/16 SPD Troop G arrested Nechtali Lara based upon the Wilton Police Department warrant and turned him over to the WPD where he was processed on the larceny warrant.
