Wilton Police Reports: Reckless Driving, Theft of ATM from Portofino's & More

On December 5, the owner of Agron's Barbershop reported that Frank DiMarino, 80, of Stamford was captured on video surveillance damaging the lock to the front door of his business on December 4, when the Barbershop was closed.

DiMarino is the owner of another barbershop in Wilton. He admitted causing the damage and waived his right to be arrested following the issuance of an arrest warrant. Instead, he was issued a summons and given a court date to appear at Norwalk Superior Court. He was released on a WPTA.

On December 5, a vehicle operated by Adler Florian, 25, of Stamford, was stopped on Rt. 7 at Pimpewaug Road for MV charges. Upon investigation, the operator was found to be in possession of marijuana. Florian was issued an infraction for the offense and for the initial motor vehicle charge of Passing Vehicles on the Right.

On December 8, Wilton Police responded to Portofino's for an alarm. They found an open rear door and broken electrical outlet. After speaking with the manager, it was determined that an ATM machine had been taken.

On December 9 at approximately 5:00 pm, several 911 callers complained of a white Ford F150 driving recklessly. Sgt Baker and Officer Harris initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Sharp Hill Road and Hurlbutt Street. Upon making contact with the operator, there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Michael Scheurich, and the Trumbull resident admitted to drinking earlier. He has a suspended driver's license due to previous DUI's. The SFST's were administered to Mr. Scheurich, to which he was unable to perform to standard. He was arrested, processed, and given a $2,500.00 bond. Inventory of the MV revealed several empty alcohol containers, one opened container, and a collapsible baton weapon. Mr. Scheurich posted bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on December 16.
