Wilton Police Arrest Norwalk Man for Robbing Fairfield County Bank

Bank Robbery Arrest April 14

On February 24, 2017 at approximately 1458 hours Wilton Dispatch received a report of a bank robbery in progress at the Fairfield County Bank located at 941 Danbury Road in the Georgetown section of Wilton. Officers responded and discovered that a male entered the bank and demanded cash. There was no weapon visible or threatened and the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect fled the scene in a 1997 Honda Accord color green, which was abandoned and recovered a short distance from the bank. Investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle was recently purchased on the website “Letgo.” A search warrant executed on the “Letgo” accounts identified Joseph Boccuzzi, age 34, of 1 Maplewood Terrace Norwalk, CT as a suspect. Boccuzzi was interviewed and subsequently confessed to committing the bank robbery in Wilton. Boccuzzi also confessed to committing three (3) additional bank robberies and one (1) attempted bank robbery at other banks located in Fairfield County.

On April 14, 2017 the Wilton Police Department arrested Joseph Boccuzzi, age 34, of 1 Maplewood Terrace Norwalk, CT, charging him with Robbery in the 2nd Degree and Larceny in the 1st Degree. He is currently being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday April 17, 2017.

The arrest is a result of remarkable collaboration between the Wilton, Fairfield, Stamford, and Norwalk police departments.
