Wilton Police: MVA Caused by Distracted Driving

On June 5 at 10:25 am, a two vehicle accident occurred on Danbury Road near the intersection of Old Highway in Wilton.

Sydney Hutchison of Westport was operating a Mazda Sport and traveling in the left southbound lane on Danbury Road.

Chirag Rana of Danbury was operating a Honda Odyssey and traveling and traveling directly behind Ms. Hutchison when he rear-ended her vehicle.  

Mr. Rana explained that he did not realize the traffic light at the intersection had turned red and that traffic was coming to a stop. He admitted he was looking at his G.P.S. while driving which caused him to hit the Mazda.

There were reports of minor injuries, however, all parties involved refused medical attention. 

Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Mr. Rana was issued an infraction for Following too Close and Distractive Driving. He was given an answer date of June 23, 2017.
