Back-to-School Blast & Return of the Pickles This Week at the Monroe Farmers' Market (on Friday!)

This week at the Monroe Farmers' Market, it's our annual Back to School Blastwhich means there's loads of great stuff to see and do for kids of all ages. You won't want to miss this great time on Friday from 3-6 PM at the Town Greene

The first of the Fall produce arrived at the market last week and there's sure to be even more this Friday. Look for sweet corn, pumpkins, squashes and delicious, sweet plums!

We're pleased to welcome Carrot Top Kitchens back to the market this week with pickles, hummus, gazpacho and chutney.

This Week at the Market:

Creative Kids Craft Studio will be at the market helping kids to decorate notebooks and pencils with Washi tape and duct tape in fun colors and patterns!

This Friday, Project Warmth is running the Lemonade Stand. The Project Warmth fund was created by the Town of Monroe to help Monroe residents bridge the gap between energy assistance programs. They will be raising funds at the market this week in order to provide assistance to those in need this coming Winter.

Monroe Reads Together is a partnership between local librarians, teachers, residents and business owners seeking to promote the joys and benefits of reading by choosing a book for a town-wide read this Summer. They will be at the market this week to promote the program and a visit by the author of Dinner with the Smileys coming in November.

From 3-5:00pm, Masuk High School's own DJ Joel Castillo will be spinning current hits, live from the gazebo on the green.

From 5-6:00pm, the eight member group The Common Chords will perform Rock and Blues standards from the last few decades, on the gazebo. They're a group of Monroe Educators that includes teachers, a principal and a district administrator and they know how to rock!

Representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Connecticut will be at the market to collect your donations of "gently used" clothing and household goods. Help support a worthy cause that embraces the reduce, reuse and recycle philosophy.

This week's market is sponsored in part by Next Step Living and The Creative Music Center of Monroe.
