Rep. David Scribner Applauds Western Connecticut Home Care for Joint Commission Accreditation

DANBURYState Rep. David Scribner (R-107), member of the Public Health Committee, today congratulates Western Connecticut Home Care (WCHC) for earning a Gold Seal of Approval for Home Care Accreditation from The Joint Commission. The seal is only awarded for a three-year period to those who demonstrate continuous compliance with performance standards and a commitment to providing safe and effective care. A survey of WCHC was taken in November which evaluated organization, provision of care, treatment and services, emergency management, human resources, individual rights and responsibilities, and leadership. The Joint Commission also provided WCHC with educational training to help staff to continue to improve its performance.

WCHC is a non-profit, Medicare certified and State licensed medical home care agency that provides nursing, therapy, medical social work and home health aide services. Specialty services offered include cardiac care and management, COPD care and management, diabetes management, fall prevention assessment, geriatric care, infusion therapy, Lifeline personal emergency response system, maternal child health, nutrition therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, palliative care, respiratory therapy, tele-monitoring and wound care.

“After years of advocacy, I am thrilled we are being recognized for achieving such a high level of quality care for patients and their families who deserve greater comfort and support during a difficult time,” said Rep. Scribner, a member of the Board of Directors for the Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut. “This accreditation is a great honor for Western Connecticut Home Care, and is very well-deserved.”
