Longtime Bethel Resident, Robert Abrams, Passes at 82

Robert E. Abrams, age 82 of Danbury, formerly of Bethel died peacefully on March 6th at the Pope John Paul II Center for Healthcare, Danbury. He was the beloved husband of Harriet (Mott) Abrams for 60 years this April. Robert was born in Bethel April 30, 1932, the son of the late Henry J. and Gertrude (Fanning) Abrams.

He had attended Bethel schools and was a lifelong resident.Robert was employed with Risdon Manufacturing Co. for 42 years as a machinist until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Risdon bowling league during the 1960's. He enjoyed family activities such as barbeques, holidays, and going to Mets games with his grandsons. He also enjoyed gardening, fresh water fishing, walking with friends at the mall, and trips to the casino with his wife Harriet and friends.

In addition to his wife Harriet, Robert leaves behind three daughters: Marie Abrams of Danbury, Marilyn Johansson and her husband Steve of Danbury, and Bonnie Canzio and her husband James of Fort Pierce, FL, two granddaughters: Michelle Canzio and Allison Johansson, two grandsons: Robert Johansson and Gregory Canzio, as well as several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his daughter Carolyn, his five brothers, Lester, Warren, Henry, Wilbert, and Albert, and his three sisters, Eva, Gertrude, and Georgiana.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday March 11th at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday March 10th from 5 thru 7pm.Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the  Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter 2075 Silas Deane Highway Rocky Hill, CT  06067.
