Longtime Bethel Resident, Joan Heller, has passed at 80

Joan A. Heller, 80, of Bethel, wife of the late Philip A. Heller, III, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Regional Hospice of Western CT Healing & Comfort Care Center, Danbury.

Mrs. Heller was born in North Salem, NY, July 4, 1934, a daughter of Stuart and Belle (Cooke) Bates. She attended New York schools.

A CT resident for the past sixty-two years, Mrs. Heller was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church of Danbury.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane Cohrs, son in law, Uwe Wittkamp; a sister, Dianna Smith and her husband, Richard; a brother in law, Dr. Robert Burgess; sister in law, Mary Ann Bates; three grandchildren, Brian Wittkamp and his wife, Kristine, Phillip Cohrs and Caitlyn Cohrs; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Wittkamp and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Heller was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Wittkamp.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Dr. David Reinhardt of the Baptist Church of Danbury officiating.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Sunday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Baptist Church of Danbury, 14 Granville Ave. Danbury or to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT, 30 Milestone Rd., Danbury 06810 would be appreciated.
