The Bethel Public Library Celebrates Founder’s Day with Flowers, Fun, and Music

Everyone is invited to join the Bethel Public Library as we celebrate Founder’s Day in September! First up is the annual flower arranging exhibition and contest sponsored by the Library Board of Directors. All ages are invited to create a floral arrangement and exhibit it at the Library, with the option of entering the contest. Ribbons will be awarded in two age categories: children up to age 12, and adults and teens. Arrangements must be delivered to the Library on September 17 from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm, or on September 18 from 10:00 am. to 4:30 pm and must be accompanied by a completed submission form. Contest rules and submission forms are available at www.bethellibrary.org or in person at the Library.

On Monday September 21, two flower arranging workshops, led by professional floral designers from Alice’s Flower Shop, will be offered. The first, from 5:00 to 6:15 pm, is for children ages 5-12 years; the second workshop is for adults and teens (ages 13 years and up) and runs from 6:30 to 7:45 pm. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required and must be limited to 10 children and 12 adults/teens.

The celebration concludes on Thursday September 24 with a live music performance and presentation of “Historic Songs of American Work and Trades.” Join us at 7:00 pm when Rick Spencer returns to the Library to entertain and enlighten us in his inimitable way! Hear Rick perform songs about farmers, sailors, cowboys, peddlers, housewives, railroaders, and soldiers, and learn about the labor movement in America and the modern use of songs which describe work. Appropriate for ages 12+. Registration is required; please call 203-794-8756 x4 or go to the online calendar at www.bethellibrary.org.

All Bethel Public Library events are open to the public and meet accessibility requirements for the disabled. Those needing special accommodations should contact the Library at least two weeks prior to the event to make arrangements.  Bethel Public Library, 189 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, CT.
