Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Cherrie Darling Beauty!
Three questions with Cherrie Sludock, founder of Cherrie Darling Beauty.
Why did you start your business?
I started my business because I wanted to make beauty services more affordable and accessible. Facial treatments can really change a person's skin (which boosts confidence!), but they are priced and marketed to feel exclusive and luxurious. Many of them require a lot of downtime, too. I wanted to offer a comfortable, yet professional atmosphere where the average person could feel like they belong. I made it a point to offer several different options at affordable price points so that regardless of budget, my clients can take some time for themselves. I'm so glad that my business has a home inside The Willows Massage & Wellness Center, where Lori shares my views on making wellness services affordable for everyone. We all deserve to look and feel our best!
What is your best selling product/service?
My best selling service is definitely my Essentials Combo. Because I offer facial treatments and waxing, I noticed that I was seeing the same clients several times a month for different services. A lightbulb went off, and I decided to bundle my three most popular services (Brow Design, Brazilian Waxing, and Essential Facial) into one Combo at a discounted rate. This keeps my clients on the perfect schedule, plus saves them time and money!
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
2020 has definitely forced me to continue to reimagine my small business. The spa industry was shut down for several months, and I had to get creative in order to keep my business alive. I made facial kits, launched virtual consultations, and focused on educating clients on how to keep their skin healthy during this crazy time. As the world shifts and changes, we must be prepared to do the same!
Cherrie would like to nominate The Beauty Studio in Bethel - "I've never met the gal who runs it, but I follow her on social media and she does beautiful work. Entrepreneurship is hard, it's especially hard being a female entrepreneur, and it's even MORE challenging being in the beauty industry during a global pandemic. I'd love for her to get some exposure!"
Cherrie Darling Beauty is located at 251 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel. Visit them online here, and also make sure to check out their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages as well!
