A quartet of young, hot, seasoned session players and performers brings a new exciting approach to solos that will grab your attention
Kevin Quinn: Born and raised in New York, Kevin began his musical studies on guitar when he was 18 years old. While attending the SUNY New Paltz, Kevin began to take an interest in jazz. He pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies studying with Mark Dziuba, Vinnie Martucci, John Menegon, and Jeff “Siege” Siegel. After graduating, he started his career as a sound engineer at the ShapeShifter Lab in Brooklyn, NY, where he studied with bass virtuoso Matthew Garrison. Working at the ShapeShifter has allowed Kevin to meet and play with many musicians such as Aaron Parks, Dave Savitsky, Rachel Therrien, Dean Sharp, Sean Wayland, Mark Ferber, Andrew Atkinson, Ira Coleman, Jeremy Powell, and many more. Continuing his journey, he has played at ShapeShifter Lab, Bowery Electric, Shrine, Highline Ballroom, Muchmore’s, Silvana, Wiliamsburg Music Center, The Falcon, Tomi Jazz, Pianos, Mohegun Sun, Garment District Art Festival, and a myriad of bars and restaurants.
Dave Savitsky has been performing and instructing for 25 years. He studied with Jackie McLean at the University of Hartford and Andy McGee at Berklee College of Music. With various groups, Dave has opened for Johnny Winter, Tower of Power, Chicago, Train, Chris Robinson, Willie Nile, NRBQ, Soulive, and Robert Walter and has performed with Bernie Wallace, Jay Anderson, Mike Clink, Joel Rosenblatt, Adam Nussbaum, Ira Coleman, Melvin Sparks, and many other CT and NY musicians and recording projects, most recently with Kevin Quinn’s Protocol and producer Eric Kupper. Dave has been with the SUNY New Paltz Jazz Faculty for 15 years and lives in Bethel, CT.
Jon Francke began his career as a bassist while earning his undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies at SUNY New Paltz, studying under John Menegon. He continued his education at the Aaron Copland School of Music where he was able to earn his Masters in Jazz Performance. While there Jon was able to study and perform with a multitude of talented artists including; Joe Martin, Antonio Hart, David Berkman, Michael Mossman, Tim Armacost, and Peter Calandra. Since graduating, Jon has performed at many notable venues across New York including; The Blue note, The Coltrane Festival, Great South Bay Music Festival, Rockwood Music Hall, Shapeshifter lab, and various other bars and venues along the east coast.
