Important News from Bethel's Blue Jay Orchards

Spring freeze plays havoc on apple picking season at Blue Jay Orchards. The farm will still offer family fun and pumpkin picking starting Sept. 16

Blue Jay Orchards announced some unfortunate news this week on social media. "Blue Jay Orchards is sad to have to announce that due to two heavy April frosts, followed by a freeze on the overnight of May 17-18 (26*f) the trees' blossoms froze and did not produce any fruit for this apple season."

Looking forward to September and October

The Orchard says they will be purchasing apples from other farms that have not been affected by the weather and will offer those in their Farm Market.  "We also will place field bins of these apples in the orchard for purchase. We are as disappointed as you are, but under the circumstances, we have no other solution."

Orchards (Saturday and Sunday only) OPEN for a scenic trivia walk with questions posted throughout the orchards.

NOW HAPPY NEWS

Pumpkins and gourds are growing normally and Blue Jay's pumpkin patch is set to open on September 16.

In addition, Blue Jay Orchards are planning some fun events. "We are working on some special events one of which is a Craft Fair in October and a First Responders Day in September."

Stay tuned to updates on Blue Jay Orchards website and Facebook .
