Bethel High School grad Gary J. Ostergard, 54, died unexpectedly

Gary J. Ostergard, 54, of New Milford, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at New Milford Hospital.

Gary was born in Norwalk, CT on January 14, 1969, a son of Bengt and Gunnel (Wahlroos) Ostergard of Overmark, Finland.

He attended Bethel schools and graduated from Bethel High School.

An area resident for the past 45 years. Gary owned and operated GJO Carpentry for 20 years.

Gary raced Motocross for most of his life (#73). He was a member of  The Metropolitan Sports Committee District 34.   

He loved racing and being with his friends. He worked very hard to get to the top level expert status and did very well. His famous saying was to win it you must pin it.

Gary loved the Steelers, but loved his dogs the most. Shadow and Nora.

In addition to his parents of Finland, Gary is survived by a brother Robert C. Ostergard and his wife Gina.  A brother Steven Ostergard of New Milford. Nephews Christopher and Jonathan Ostergard. He will be missed by his Motocross family.

He also leaves behind his best friend rescue canine, Nora and was predeceased by his rescue Shadow.

Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 5 pm to 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gary's memory may be made to the New Milford Animal Society, 8 Dodd Rd., New Milford, CT  06776.
