Bethel Library's Simple Steps For Starting Your Business Series

The SCORE - Western CT chapter - is sponsoring a free workshop series on starting your own business. The programs will be held Thursday evenings from April 11 through May 9. Beginning at 5:00 pm, there will be a brief networking period with refreshments where participants can mingle with SCORE volunteers and local business people. At 6:00 pm, the program will begin. This Series is In Person only.

Part 2: Business Concept

This session will teach you how to evaluate your business concept. You'll do this by reviewing a feasibility plan draft of a sample business. You'll also learn how to research industry profile data, customer data, financial projections, and other information to help you create your own business feasibility plan. We will show you how to evaluate your business ideas to decide whether or not you should move forward with your business concept or go back to the drawing board. 

Participants will be introduced to:

  • The Concepts of Market Need
  • Creating a Feasibility Plan
  • Data Collection
  • Research of Your Industry and Target Market
  • Studying Your Competition
  • Reviewing Types of Data

Tonight's presenter, Matt Alcuri, is a mentor for SCORE Western Connecticut. For the past decade plus, Matt has worked in product management developing new products, creating and implementing new product-line strategies, identifying and optimizing new distribution channels and creating highly effective product teams. He has deep experience in product planning, marketing, product management and as a SCORE mentor, supporting small businesses. Using his background and willingness to help small business owners succeed is his priority.
