Baseball Comes to Danbury ~ the Westerners Season Opener is Tomorrow!

The Danbury Westerners, part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, will open their season in Rogers Park, Danbury, tomorrow night, Friday, June 10th.  The first pitch against the Mystic Schooners will be at 6:30 pm! Ticket prices are very reasonable: $5 for Adults (13 and up), $3 for Seniors, and children 12 and under are FREE.  There will be a post-game celebration at Coyote Maverick in Danbury.

If you want to catch them practice before they start the season, head to Rogers Park this morning ~ they'll be out in all this heat.

Also on June 10th at 7:30 am, at the Amber Room Colonnade in Danbury, is the Danbury Westerners Celebrity Breakfast ~ major league ballplayer, ESPN analyst and Fairfield County native and restaurant owner Bobby Valentine will the guest speaker. Sports Illustrated recognized Bobby as one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century from Connecticut.  Reservations are required. Tables of 10 for this event are $300; individual seats available for $30, and can be secured online, Danbury Westerners Celebrity Breakfast Tickets, or by mail to PO Box 3828, Danbury CT 06813.

On June 11th, from 9 am to 11:30 am, the Westerners will be hosting a FREE baseball clinic on their home field, Rogers Park. Boys and girls, ages 7-12, from all area towns are invited.  Besides instruction by Westerners players and coaches, participants will receive a t-shirt, slice of pizza and drink.  Players will also sign autographs at the end of the session.  Call 203-788-3408 for more information or to register.
