Growing up in Bethel during her teen years, Becky Roman always had an interest in hair styling. Often braiding her friends’ hair led her to take an interest in possibly pursuing hairdressing as a career.
After high school, Becky attended the American Academy of Cosmetology in Danbury, paying her own way by waitressing to put herself through school. She graduated in 2002 with a certification in cosmetology and began working her way through the ranks of the competitive industry of hairdressing.
Starting as a shampoo girl at a high-end salon, Becky soon moved on to another salon, began cutting hair and building her clientele. While working as a stylist,
Becky attended an education academy in NYC through Graham Webb Education, which specializes in hair cutting. She also attended The L’Oreal Professional Academy for color and gained enough knowledge and experience to open her own salon after nine years of working for others.
On July 5, 2011 Becky opened Salon Kamala at Style Studios in Bethel. Renting a small one-chair studio Becky soon realized she needed to expand and began seeking out a location for her own larger space. A year-and-a-half later, she opened up Salon Kamala in the Stony Hill Corners Plaza and now has four stylists working for her.
Salon Kamala uses an organic line of products that keeps clients’ hair in the best condition possible. Pricing is competitive in comparison to local mid-high end salons. Salon Kamala specializes in color and haircutting for men and women.
