Food Drive at Pride to Benefit Bethel Food Pantry on May 4

LGBTQ+ adults are 1.6 times more likely to experience food insecurity than the general population. Same-sex couples raising children and LGBT seniors are at particular risk.

Because of this, we will be having a food drive at Pride for the Bethel Community Food Pantry. Pride runs from 12-5PM on Saturday, May 4th at the Bethel Municipal Center, 1 School St. Bethel, CT. Stop by the tent and drop off a donation, get info on donating produce from your garden, or info on getting aid for you or your family.

The Bethel Community Food Pantry currently distributes food every two weeks and services around 70-80 Bethel families.

Any shelf stable food donation is welcome.  If you want to make a big donation, consider donating a full rainbow of these items the pantry is constantly in need of!

  • RED- ketchup, tomato sauce, beets, spices
  • ORANGE- dried apricots, salad dressing, lentils, marmalade
  • YELLOW- mustard, yellow rice, curry, cereal
  • GREEN- spinach, peas, olives, green chilis
  • BLUE - jello, dish soap, boxed pasta, laundry detergent
  • PURPLE- prunes, juice, vinegar, baby food

If you can't make it to Pride but would still lime to donate food, you may drop off food at Rainy Day Paperback, 81 Greenwood Ave. Bethel, CT 11-6 Tuesday-Friday or 10-5 Saturday (except May 4th!).
