On Saturday, Sept 12th, Mitch Ancona of Redding rode an epic 100 miles on the Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT) raising over $10,000 to build more trail.
Mitch, owner of Ancona’s Wines & Liquors (Ridgefield and Wilton), started his mission at 4:30am and concluded the 100 miles at 4:20pm. Mitch and companions who shared part of his journey (ages 9 to 80) were met with clanging cowbells, clapping, whistles and general shouts of encouragement.
“Mitch is a great athlete and a true fan of the NRVT.” said Beth Merrill, NRVT’s Executive Director. “By showcasing the trail and raising donations, more Fairfield County residents are becoming aware that NRVT is building more of its community-friendly hiking, biking, and handicap accessible trail through the Heart of Fairfield County. Thanks so very much, Mitch.”
Special thanks to the DIY DK100 Mitch Ride event sponsors: Athletic Brewing Co. (Stratford) The Cakebox (Ridgefield), Nod Hill Brewing (Ridgefield), Parlor Pizza (Wilton), Ridgefield Bike Company (Ridgefield) and Tusk & Cup Fine Coffee (Wilton & Ridgefield).
