Bethel Kicks Off Holidays with Tree Lighting and Winterfest on Friday!

Bethel Tree Lighting and Winter Fest will take place this Friday, November 23 from 1 to 6pm in downtown Bethel! 

1:30 - 5:30 Horse Drawn Carriage Rides- Free
(loading and unloading at Gift Cottage and Train Station)

1:00 pm - Complimentary Hot Soups on P.T. Barnum Square and at Gift Cottage
provided by Bethel’s fine Restaurants and served by Cub Scout Pack 156

2pm - 5pm - free holiday ornament craft at The Toy Room (or while supplies last) 

P.T. Barnum Square:
1:00pm - 4:30pm - S’mores by the Firepit
1:00 pm - 6:00 pmRecord Spin with Damon Wade
4:30 BHS Choir sings
5:00 pm - Tree Lighting - By Matt Knickerbocker 
5:15 pm Santa arrives on Fire Truck by our own Bethel Fire Dept

At the Train Station and Daily Fare:
1:00pm - 5:00 pm - Kiddie Train Rides through the Christmas Village and Specials at Daily Fare

Call For WinterFest Helpers

The Bethel Chamber needs a few helpers to put on WinterFest this year.

Here's what we need:

First and most serious, we need the loan of a chair for Santa to sit in. Reports are that the Jolly Old Elf may have eaten too many cookies last year and won't fit in the chair we have used in the past.

Horse loading Downtown and also at the Train Station

Assist children and others to get on or off the horse carriage

4 volunteers at each location, 1 for each 1 hour shift, from 1 to 4

Train ride coordinators

Assist kids getting on and off the kiddie train ride, and try to keep the line orderly

4 volunteers, 1 for each 1 hour shift, from 1 to 4

Santa helpers

2 to 3 volunteers from 5 to 6 pm to help organize the kids waiting for Santa and help give out candy canes

S'mores firepit

Bring a firepit and wood (and matches!) and provide adult supervision, from 1 to 4 pm

Holiday Village setup

2 volunteers needed, 11 to 12, to put up cardboard buildings

Clean up PT Barnum Square

2 volunteers, 1/2 hour, 6 pm to take down Santa's tent and chair & take down line poles

Clean up, Holiday Village

2 volunteers, 1/2 hour, 5 pm to take down cardboard village and pile it to the side for pickup

Setup for Santa

2 volunteers, 1/2 hour, 4 pm to setup tent, chair and line poles and decorations
