Bethel’s Byrd’s Books & Bethel Chamber of Commerce Businesses Host 2021 Where’s Waldo? Hunt July 1 to August 20

Where’s Waldo? is a British series of children's puzzle books created by English illustrator Martin Handford (called Where’s Wally? in Britain). The internationally popular books - over 70 million copies sold worldwide - consist of a series of detailed double-page spread illustrations depicting dozens or more people doing a variety of amusing things at a given location - all in which you must try to find Waldo in his not-so-easy-to-find red-and-white smock.

“We’ve always loved searching for Waldo in Bethel,” says Alice Hutchinson, owner of Bethel’s Byrd’s Books, “and every summer’s hunt for Waldo has become a free community event hosted by Byrd's Books in conjunction with Bethel Chamber of Commerce member businesses, each of whom have graciously hidden Waldo and generously donated the prizes for the party."

The 2021 hunt for Waldo, which requires stamped Passports to prove he’s been found, takes place  Prospective Waldo Hunters may find Passports to stamp by going online at ByrdsBooks.com or by stopping by the bookstore at . 20 stamps out of 25 gets a ticket for prizes, and a Waldo Hunter can post a picture holding their passport on Where’s Waldo Facebook Page or bring their completed Passport to the store to enter. “To remain safe and socially distanced, Waldo has been hidden in town windows, but don’t think it’s easy.

Next year, we’ll be back inside, and the search will be harder, and even more fun,” Alice promises. (A list of participating Waldo “hosts,” all of whom have provided surprise prizes for Waldo Hunters, can be found at ByrdsBooks.com)

Byrd’s Books will hold an outdoor celebration to join together Waldo Hunters, award prizes, and thank all of the community businesses who participated in Where’s Waldo? 2021.

Byrd’s Books, located across from the Bethel Public Library, is open for browsing, touch-free purchasing and pick-up on Tuesdays through Saturdays, Sundays.
