Kid Businesses Featured at Bethel's Summer Shop & Stroll this Saturday

The Bethel Chamber of Commerce is hosting this Saturday’s Summer Shop & Stroll, which runs from 11 to 4 (rain date July 24). Shops along Greenwood Ave. and Redwood Plaza at Stony Hill will hold a variety of sales and events, vendors along Greenwood and P.T. Barnum Square will display their goods and services, and musicians will perform at the Square.

A Kids Entrepreneur Showcase, located on the Bethel Library lawn and co-sponsored by Macaroni Kid, promises to be a highlight of Summer Shop & Stroll. As described in Macaroni Kid’s online publication:The Kids Entrepreneur Showcase will provide a very special opportunity for kids with an entrepreneurial spirit to take their business/product idea and see it come to life during a fun, community-wide shopping event!  Kids range in age from 5 through 16 and include products from candles and jewelry to artwork, bird feeders and baked goods. Also, each of the kid-run businesses will be donating a portion of their proceeds to local charities!”

The event will feature 10 kid businesses. Some are described and others listed below, courtesy of Macaroni Kid.

Mag Pies Home Goods, is owned by Magalie (age 11) of Redding. She makes her own home goods, such as potholders and no-mess beeswax candle. Her taper candles are hand-dyed and poured, with a proprietary design that keeps them from tipping and makes them easy to use in any candleholder.

Jewelry for Paws is the creation of Alyssa (age 8) from Bethel. She makes bracelets of different designs. Alyssa created her business to help raise awareness of pet adoption. Half of her proceeds will go to ROAR.

Spread the Joy is owned by sisters Omisha (age 10) and Zara (age 7), who are from Redding. They create inspiring and artistic bookmarks and greeting cards.

Other kid business at Summer Shop & Stroll: Designs by Dina (bead jewelry), Cake Designs by Emily (baked goods), Ribosomes (handmade up-cycled necklaces), T&K Jewelry Shop (rainbow loom jewelry), Nature’s Gifts (bird feeders, bee houses and pressed-flower bookmarks), CAVERN|05 (prints and stickers, many Bethel-inspired), and Stella’s Art & Jewelry (she’s raising money for the homeless).
