Learn about Connecticut connections to famous events when Phil Devlin returns to Bethel Library

Pearl Harbor: The Stories Behind the Story on Thursday, December 8 from 6:30 to 8pm at Bethel Public Library

Register HERE.

We are pleased to welcome back presenter Phil Devlin for another program featuring Connecticut connections to famous events!

This popular presentation not only deals with the numerous, interesting Connecticut connections to the infamous sneak attack, but also deals with the often overlooked historical antecedents of the attack-a battle in the Russo-Japanese War as well as a surprise attack in Italy in World War II-which render the attack in Hawaii not as big a surprise as it has been portrayed.  The huge role that the Japanese obsession with oil played in the attack is also discussed.

Presenter Phil Devlin was raised in Windsor Locks, CT. His dad was a career military officer and veteran of WWII, as were 6 of his uncles, 1 aunt, and many of his neighbors, teachers, and coaches. His interest in the world wars of the 20th century grew naturally from these associations. His father, 3 uncles, and 3 brothers were all stationed at Bradley Field.

Registration is required for this In Person event.
