Steve Morse Band’s namesake is a Guitar Player Hall of Famer, songwriter and bandleader of The Dixie Dregs, member of supergroup Flying Colors, as well as former guitarist of Deep Purple, Kansas and more. He has appeared on over 200 commercial albums, having established himself in a wide range of musical genres, from classical guitar to jazz and fusion to country and bluegrass to progressive rock, pop-rock and hard rock. A “guitarist’s guitarist”, he was voted “Best Overall Guitarist” in the Guitar Player Readers Poll for five consecutive years (1982-1986.) Morse’s bandmates feature Dave LaRue, also of Flying Colors and The Dixie Dregs, as well as Van Romaine, one of the most in-demand percussionists throughout his extensive career playing live and recording with legendary names like Blood, Sweat & Tears, Billy Joel, Naughty by Nature and many more. After Morse had fronted the Dregs on some 14 albums, the Steve Morse Band began their recording career in 1984. Soon after, Elektra Records snatched Morse up and he cut two albums for the label, The Introduction in 1984 and Stand Up in 1985. The band included Dave La Rue and Van Romaine beginning in the 90s, releasing albums like Southern Steel (1991), Coast to Coast (1992), Structural Damage (1995), and StressFest (1996.) Out Standing in Their Field arrived in 2009, and the following year saw the release of Angelfire, a collaboration with singer/songwriter Sarah Spencer. The Steve Morse Band returns in 2023, with five shows across the Northeastern US. Don’t miss your chance to catch Steve Morse with Van Romaine and Dave LaRue, live on stage and together again for the first time in almost 10 years!
