Eversource to improve the transmission system in Bethel, Danbury, and Brookfield

Eversource announced that they are scheduled to work to improve the transmission system in Bethel, Danbury, and Brookfield.

In November 2016, Eversource received approval from the Connecticut Siting Council to construct the Southwest Connecticut Reliability Project (Project).

According to a letter Eversource sent to local residents, these improvements will strengthen the electric system so we can reliably supply customers with electricity, in keeping with national and regional standards.

"We will be installing a new 3.4-mile 115-kilovolt (kV) overhead electric transmission line within the existing transmission line right of way (powerline corridor) from Plumtree Substation (near Walnut Hill Road in Bethel) to an area near Park Ridge Road in Brookfield. We will also make related modifications to the Plumtree Substation in Bethel and the Stony Hill Substation in Brookfield," they say.

Eversource says that the project is anticipated to begin in December 2017 and be completed by the end of 2018. Restoration is scheduled to be performed in spring 2019.

The work is not expected to interrupt electric service to your home or business. Hours of construction will typically be 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Saturday.

Due to weather or other unexpected circumstances, the work hours may be extended or performed on a Sunday.

Before work begins in your neighborhood, Eversource Field Outreach representatives will notify you with details about the planned work and its timing
