Bethel Superintendent Update on School Renovation Projects

In a letter, Christine Carver, Ed. D. Bethel Superintendent of Schools updated parents and the school community on the renovation projects of Johnson and Rockwell Schools.

Carver said, "We are entering an exciting time with our renovation projects of Johnson and Rockwell Schools.  We are working closely with the Town's Public Building and Site Committee and Perkins Eastman (Architect) to begin preliminary design work. We are also beginning some preliminary testing and building walkthroughs to assist in the structural design process.  As a result, there will be occasions in which different firms will be on the campus.  We are attempting to schedule the testing in a way that there is as little impact or disruption to the school environment, but anytime you occupy a space during a renovation process, it is impossible to completely avoid."

Carver informed parents and the school about boring testing around Johnson and Rockwell School.  "This testing involves drilling into the ledge. The firm needs five days to complete the testing," she said.

Given our long Presidents' day weekend, Milone and MacBroom (Engineer) has scheduled the testing to begin on Friday, February 16th, thereby minimizing impact to either school.  According to Carver, the testing will not impact students going out to recess. "There might be some noise associated with the testing but should have minimal impact to the instructional environment," she said.
