In their Special Olympics Honor Roll for 2018, ESPN named Bethel High School's Unified Sports Program among the Top 30 in the country.
According to ESPN, the aim of Unified Champion Schools is to incorporate Special Olympics sports, leadership and related activities that empower the youth to be the agents of change in their communities. "Thus, the focus shifts from the events to that of a whole school movement for inclusion," ESPN explains.
Yesterday, ESPN announced 5 Champion schools that will receive a national banner presentation. ESPN says, "These five schools have met the 10 national standards of inclusion and have been nominated by their state's Special Olympics program."
