Bethel's Byrd's Books invites you to design a bookmark in 5th annual contest

Bethel's Byrd's Books invites you to design a bookmark in 5th annual contest that runs during the month of May

What a delight to return to a favorite book only to find a page bookmarked with a photo of Mom and Dad when they first met, or a decades-old pass from Zurich to Istanbul by train, or any other tidbit of ephemera that's sure to evoke a fond memory.  Do you remember that special bookmark that was created by a niece in kindergarten, picturing a scene from a favorite book? For the fifth year, Bethel's Byrd's Books invites you to design a bookmark inspired by your favorite book, and perhaps you'll win a gift certificate for $25.00 and 25 printed copies of your winning entry to mark the pages of friends and family.

The contest runs through Friday, May 31st. Judged by Bethel Arts, it will name one winning bookmark to be produced from each of 5 categories: Pre-K – 3rd Grades, 4th – 5th Grades, 6th - 8th Grades, 9th - 12th Grades and  Adult. All submissions will be exhibited throughout May at Byrd's Books, which is located at 178 Greenwood Avenue, adjacent to The Toy Room and the nearby landmarked Opera House, across the street from the Bethel Public Library.

Artwork and completed entry forms must be returned to Byrd’s Books by Thursday May 31st at the end of day. Classroom teachers are encouraged to share the project with their students - the more the merrier! Winners will be announced at an unveiling party on Saturday, June 1st at 1:00pm, and Byrd's Books will hand out winning bookmarks to its customers throughout the summer season. (Please note: the space size for the bookmark is actually 2 inches wide by 6 inches high.)

Byrd's Books is open Tuesdays through Saturdays 10:00am to 6:00pm, Sundays 12:00 noon to 4:00pm. Byrd's Books new location has on-street parking. Municipal parking is available at the Bethel Public Library across the street and at the "Old Train Station" which is where Broken Symmetry now resides. There are private lots nearby. For more information, visit byrdsbooks.com or call (203) 730-2973.
