Town of Bethel to Close Some Recreational Facilities, Restricts Retail Operations: Lamont's Executive Order No. 7N

Yesterday, Governor Lamont signed Executive Order No. 7N to mitigate the spread of COVID -19. Bethel First Selectman, Matt Knickerbocker reviews Order below and outlines how it applies in Town of Bethel:

  • Restricts all social and recreational gatherings to no more than 5 people: The town will be closing some recreational facilities to help the public comply with this order.
  • Restricts restaurant payment and pickup operations:This limits the entrance of customers or third party delivery personnel into locations to the minimum extent necessary to pick up and / or pay for orders, use touchless payment systems, and require remote ordering and payment.
  • Further restricts retail operations: Requires all retail establishments that have been allowed to remain open and permit customers inside to take appropriate and reasonable measures to ensure customers maintain 6 feet distance between each other and manage resulting lines to maintain such distance while people wait to enter.
  • Requires firearm transaction to be conducted by appointment only
  • Suspension of tax on single-use checkout bags
  • Prohibits employers from requiring employees to place items in customers' reusable bags

Businesses can now apply for the Connecticut Recovery Bridge Loan Program:  The emergency loan program created by Governor Lamont that provides no-interest loans to Connecticut small businesses and nonprofits hurt by the global spread of COVID-19 has now launched.  Businesses and nonprofits can begin applying for the program, which was created to provide immediate assistance with cash flow.
