Every year during the month of May, Bethel’s Byrd’s Books hosts a Summer Bookmark Contest - 2021 marks its 7th! Both Kids and adults are invited to design a bookmark based on a book they love. Guest judges selected by Bethel Arts will choose a winner and runner-up in each of five categories/age groups (grades pre-K - 2nd; 3rd - 5th; 6th - 8th; 9th - 12th; and Adult). Then, Byrd’s Books prints100 each of the winning bookmarks and uses them to give out all summer long.
The five winners get a $25 gift certificate to Byrd's Books and 25 of their bookmarks to give away. Honorable mentions get a $10 gift certificate. The winning creations will be displayed in the bookstore and announced to the local media.
The contest runs throughout the month of May, so you have plenty of time to enter by the deadline. Only one submission per person is allowed. Teachers are especially urged to encourage student participation - a great classroom project that celebrates Art and community! Author discussions and Book Group gatherings are regularly added to Byrd’s Books’ calendar of events at ByrdsBooks.com Open Tuesdays through Saturdays for browsing, touch-free purchasing and pick-up, Byrd’s Books also welcomes private shopping by appointment on Sundays. Byrd’s Books requires masks and provides a hand sanitizer for everyone's safety.
