Ridgefield Lions Win Connecticut State Hockey Championship

Ridgefield Amateur Hockey Association (RAHA) is excited to announce that The Ridgefield Lions 10U Team won the Connecticut Hockey Conference State Title this past week defeating the Connecticut Junior Whalers 1-0 in the championship game.

The lone goal of the game from co-captain John Kelly and goaltender Henry Blumenreich kept a strong CT Junior Whalers team to zero tallies. Head Coach Kevin Perlowitz said “I can’t say enough about this team, every single player showed up today and worked hard every minute of every shift. Hats off the the CT Junior Whalers, they didn’t hand this to us, those kids played really well”

Ridgefield Amateur Hockey Association (RAHA) was founded in 1974 and has been serving the greater Ridgefield community for the past 49 years. The mission of RAHA is to actively maintain a culture of competitiveness and camaraderie for each player, each team and the program as a whole by focusing on effort, attitude, discipline, skills, and application of skills to enhance the physical, mental, and character traits in players that lead to success in sports and in life.

Sean Sullivan has been named Hockey Director again for the 2023-2024 Season. Sean has been with Ridgefield Hockey for the past 3 seasons and has reshaped the program leading to this seasons impressive State Championship victory. Sean is one of the most sought after hockey directors in the hockey community and has the ability to develop players at all age levels. “I am thrilled to continue my role with RAHA and build upon the great foundation in Ridgefield. We have a great group of players and coaches who I’m excited to continue to work alongside to build the very best hockey experience for all those who wear the Lions jersey.” Sullivan said.

‘Sully’ as he is known throughout the hockey community is an accomplished player at elite levels including the Ontario Junior Hockey league and professional level Federal Hockey League. Sean is founder and president of Sully’s Hockey Academy where he oversees the development of hundreds of area hockey players through private lessons, camps & clinics, and select tournament teams. Mike Kelly, RAHA Board President commented “Sean is a huge asset to RAHA players and coaches, he brings with him a wealth of experience and his dedication to the game is unparalleled. He has a unique ability to connect with young players and his hockey knowledge is exceptional, we’re lucky to have him leading our program for another season. I’m thankful in his new role he’ll have the bandwidth to make even greater contributions to our players and coaches”
