Bethel Library's Summer Reading Challenge

“Summer Reading: All Together Now” at Bethel Public Library

It's Summer Time and the living is easy! “Summer Reading: All Together Now” is the theme for the Bethel Public Library’s Summer Reading program for children, teens and adults, which begins on June 12th and goes through August 31st.

That first week is chock full of activities that represent what will continue through the summer. Our Adult kick-off is an historical music program featuring Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle, who will sing and discuss, “Songs from the British Invasion” on Thursday, June 15th at 6:30PM. Our Teen kick-off is a Summer Party on June 13th at 6:00PM. And our very popular “Tie Dye Event” for the entire community is being held on Saturday, June 17th.

We continue with Chris Merwin music on June 2st for children and families at 3:30 pm. We have some new programs like Garden Storytime for children as well as other exciting weekly programs. For teens we have a new 3-day series featuring Chef Matthew Yanerella, who will teach how to make delicious and easy Italian food (June 20-22, 2:30pm-4:30pm); and Jack Purcell, a comic artist who is going to teach how to create your own comics (June 26-28, 3:00pm – 5:00pm).

Our Project Lab will also be busy this Summer, with programs for our cricut machine; video editing; video streaming tricks; and sewing classes.

Rounding out these events, are our programs for adults, ranging from “A Year in Kimono” (July 6, 6:30pm); “Women in the American Revolution: Putting the ‘Her’ in Heroics” (July 20, 6:30pm) ; “The Art of Daycation” (August 10, 6:30pm) and “Did an American Woman Kill Jack the Ripper” (August 31, 6:30pm). And many more in between!

Of course no Summer Reading program would be complete without kids, teens, and adults winning prizes through logging their reading and through completing activities. Our raffle prizes have been graciously donated by local businesses.

“Summer Reading: All Together Now” will make your Summer Time living easy!
