Call for Entries: Fresh Ink, NVCC's Literary Magazine Accepting Submissions

Naugatuck Valley Community College’s literary journal, Fresh Ink, is inviting writers and graphic/photo artists to submit their work for consideration in the Spring 2018 issue. Deadline for this issue is March 1, 2018.

Fresh Ink accepts previously unpublished pieces in three categories: poetry, prose, and graphic art year round. You may include a maximum total of five pieces, but no more than three pieces in any one category. Also, prose pieces are limited to a maximum total (cumulative) word count of 1250 words. Prose texts may include short stories, excerpts of larger works, essays, scenes, or monologues, fiction or nonfiction.  Graphic art submissions can include photographs, drawings or graphic pieces in any medium, color or black and white; however, the pieces will be evaluated with consideration for their reproduction quality as they will be printed from electronic media.

All submissions should be sent electronically to Jeannie Evans-Boniecki at Freshink@nv.edu">Freshink@nv.edu. Please format the email as follows: In the body of the email, include your name, address, telephone number, email address, and the title(s) of your piece(s). NVCC students must self- identify so should also include student ID number to be eligible for prizes. Each item should be submitted as a separately attached file with file names that match your titles. Text files should be in Word or Rich Text format. Graphic files should be in hi-res jpg format. Do not include any contact or personal information in the attached documents.

All graphic submissions will be considered for our cover competition. Current NVCC students are eligible for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each of the three categories that include cash value prizes. Published authors will be paid in copies. Two copies will be sent to each author, though more (up to 5) are available on request. Any author who submits work may also receive a free copy upon request.
