Thomas Gaetano Yacono, 89, of the Cascades at Bethel, has died

Thomas Gaetano Yacono, 89, of the Cascades at Bethel, died on Tuesday evening, March 13, 2018 at Danbury Hospital.

He was the husband of sixty-eight years to Letizia (LoGreco) Yacono and father of Gary T. Yacono, MD (Michele) of New Fairfield, Angela R. White (Alan) of Stony Brook, NY and Lisa C. Hughes (Robert Storace) of Southbury, CT and grandfather of Erika and Andrew White, Matthew and Catherine Hughes and Danielle, Jessica and Michael Yacono.

Mr. Yacono was born in Dobbs Ferry, NY, January 13, 1929 to Gaetano and Angelina (Cincotta) Yacono. He attended Dobbs Ferry schools and graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Yacono enlisted and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. 

Upon his return from the United States Navy, Thomas and Letizia were united in marriage.

Mr. Yacono was a retired Westchester County builder and real estate broker.

As a former active member of the Dobbs Ferry community, he served as a Deputy Mayor and Trustee and a past president of the Dobbs Ferry Lions Club. He was a former communicant of Our Lady of Pompeii Church.

A Connecticut resident for the past twenty-one years coming from Dobbs Ferry, NY, Mr. and Mrs. Yacono first resided at Heritage Village, Southbury and in later years at the Cascades of Bethel. As a Southbury resident, Mr. Yacono was a communicant at Sacred Heart Church.

He enjoyed travel, art; most especially oil and acrylic painting of landscapes, golf, reading and was considered an avid learner.

He will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will take place in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury, CT on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. 

Entombment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY at 12:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury on Saturday from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 am.
