Arthur Montanari, 74, of Bethel, formerly of Ridgefield, has died

Arthur “Artie” Montanari, 74, of Bethel, formerly of Ridgefield, husband of Elise (Jones) Montanari, died on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Regional Hospice & Palliative Care Center for Comfort Care and Healing, Danbury. 

Artie was born in Danbury, August 2, 1943, son of the late Violanda “Alice” (Castellazzo) and the late Hugo Montanari.

He attended Ridgefield schools, graduated from Ridgefield High School and Western New England University.

Mr. Montanari was employed with Norden System of Norwalk in the financial management division; a position he held for thirty-three years.

He was a U.S. Army reservist and would often refer to himself as a Patriot.

Artie enjoyed woodworking and carving, gardening, painting; most especially landscapes with oil-based colors, many piece picture puzzles and family vacations.

He most especially enjoyed the time shared with his family and loved his 340 1970 Dodge Challenger best known as “Betsy”.

Artie was a member of the Italian Mutual Aid Society of Ridgefield and the Norden System Retiree Club.

In addition to his wife Elise of forty-five years, he is survived by two daughters, Alana Montanari and her husband, Michael Schmitz of San Francisco, CA and Marisa Manley and her husband Mark of Boston, MA; a sister, Frances Roach and her husband Jim of New Milford, CT; two grandchildren, Everett James Manley and Kaira Jane Manley as well as four nieces and two nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
