Town of Bethel Storm Recovery: 25 Roads Blocked, Municipal Center & Stony Hill Fire Headquarters Open for Showers/Charging

As of 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 16th, approximately 1,888 Bethel homes and businesses remain without power.

There are currently 25 major roadways blocked by downed trees and limbs. Most of these also involve power lines. Town highway crews are removing smaller debris, and contractors with bucket trucks and heavy lift equipment have been retained to move larger tree trunks and limbs.

Eversource crews are in the field conducting damage evaluations. We have not received an estimate for restoration. However, based on the extent of damage in the area, we expect restoration to take several days, at the least.

The Bethel municipal center and Stony Hill Fire Department Headquarters are both open for use of showers and charging electronic devices now and will remain available until 8:00pm tonight. Free wi-fi is also available at the municipal center.

Residents are reminded not to approach downed wires of any kind. Do not attempt to remove trees or limbs if they are touching wires.

Monitor Town of Bethel website here for restoration updates.
