Newtown Boy Scouts Troop 270 Color Splash Run/Walk on August 25

Newtown Boy Scouts Troop 270 will hold a Color Splash Run/Walk on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Connecticut Governor's Horse Guard, 4 Wildlife Dr., Newtown, CT. The Title Sponsor of the Color Splash Run/Walk is the Newtown Federation of Teachers, Local 1727.

The Color Splash Run/Walk is an untimed fun run featuring a designated course. Throughout the course participants will experience color splash zones where they will be doused in color. There will also be a final color toss celebration.

You can run, jog, or walk at your own pace. Bring the whole family for extra fun.

Check-in will be from 7:30 am to 9:30 am, and the run will begin at 10 am.

Participants are asked to register online by August 12, 2018, at http://bit.ly/TROOP270.

Individuals who register by August 12, 2018 for $30, will receive a T-shirt, race bib, and an individual color packet.

The approximate 3-mile course will be around trails at the Connecticut Governor’s Horse Guard and will also include parts of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary.

Boy Scouts Troop 270 is sponsored by the Newtown Congregational Church in Newtown, Connecticut. Troop 270 celebrated its 60th Anniversary this year. Founded in 1958, Troop 270 is a Scout led leadership troop in The Connecticut Yankee Council, Scatacook District. Since its inception, Troop 270 has produced 103 Eagle Scouts, and many more scouts are on their way to achieving the Eagle Scout rank. Troop 270 has more than 44 active Scouts ranking from Scout to Eagle.

The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America is to promote, through cooperation with other agencies, the ability of youth to do things for themselves and others, and to teach youth patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues. In achieving this purpose, emphasis is placed upon the Boy Scouts of America’s educational program and its oaths, promises, and codes for character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness.

The Color Splash Run/Walk is being held as a fundraiser for high adventure trips for Troop 270 Scouts. Currently the Scouts are saving up to go on a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in Summer 2019.
