Danbury Hospital Receives $100,000 Gift from Fairfield County Bank

Danbury Hospital has received a $100,000 gift from Fairfield County Bank to establish the John F. Pezzimenti, MD Oncology Endowment Fund. The gift is in honor of Dr. John F. Pezzimenti, a medical hematologist and oncologist who has practiced at Danbury Hospital since 1986. He has been serving Fairfield County communities as a physician for the last 46 years.

“Fairfield County Bank is pleased to honor Dr. Pezzimenti with this endowment,” said Paul S. McNamara, chairman of Fairfield County Bank. “It is a fitting testament to his life’s work and his tremendous impact on generations of individuals and families across Fairfield County.”

The Pezzimenti Endowment Fund will support cancer programs and services at Danbury Hospital and the Praxair Cancer Center, which treats more than 600 cancer patients and families each year. Fairfield County Bank presented the gift on September 20, 2018 at an event honoring Dr. Pezzimenti, who has served over 21 years on the Fairfield County Bank’s Board of Incorporators.

“I am deeply grateful for this endowment to advance programming for cancer patients and their families at Danbury Hospital,” said Dr. Pezzimenti. “It is a sincere honor to be so generously recognized by Fairfield County Bank.”

Established in 2001, the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, part of the Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN), offers exceptional and compassionate, multidisciplinary cancer care. Cancer experts from a variety of disciplines share their knowledge and expertise to determine the optimal treatment for each patient — always with the goal of achieving the best possible outcome.

“We are extremely grateful to Fairfield County Bank for its continuing support of programs and services at Danbury Hospital,” said Grace Linhard, chief development officer, WCHN. “This generous gift in honor of Dr. Pezzimenti will advance the well-being of cancer patients and families who depend upon the Danbury Hospital for leading-edge cancer treatment.”
